Pinellas County Medicaid Resource Center

If you live in Pinellas County, Florida, this guide provides a central starting point for finding Florida Medicaid information, applying for coverage, managing your case, completing renewals, finding healthcare services, and getting help when you have a Medicaid problem.

Whether you live in Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Largo, Pinellas Park, Dunedin, Tarpon Springs, Seminole, Safety Harbor, or another Pinellas County community, the resources below can help you find the appropriate Florida Medicaid agency or healthcare resource.

Important: Florida Medicaid eligibility and case decisions are handled by the appropriate state agencies. Local resources can help you access services, but they do not replace an official Medicaid determination.

Florida Medicaid in Pinellas County

Florida Medicaid provides health coverage to eligible Floridians. The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) determines Medicaid eligibility for many applicants, while the Social Security Administration determines Medicaid eligibility for people receiving SSI.

Florida's Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) administers the Medicaid program and the Statewide Medicaid Managed Care program.

For many Pinellas County residents, MyACCESS Florida is the primary online system for applying for Medicaid, checking case information, submitting documents and managing benefits.

Medicaid recipients should pay attention to renewal notices and requests for information.

If DCF needs information to determine continued eligibility, your MyACCESS account can be used to submit documents. DCF states that Medicaid recipients can access renewal functions through MyACCESS when their renewal period arrives.

If your Medicaid was terminated

If you receive a notice that your Medicaid coverage is ending:

  1. Read the notice carefully.

  2. Check your MyACCESS account.

Do not ignore a Medicaid termination notice.

Your managed care plan affects which doctors, hospitals and other healthcare providers you can use.

Before selecting or changing a plan, check:

  • Whether your primary care doctor participates

  • Whether your specialists participate

  • Whether your preferred hospital participates

  • Prescription coverage

  • Dental benefits

  • Additional plan services

  • Whether the plan serves your eligibility category
