Behavior Analysis Missing National Provider Identification (NPI) on Provider File Action Needed by 3/26/2026

How to get an active NPI

On September 30, 2025, the Agency for Health Care Administration (Agency) sent notification to active Medicaid providers who were missing an active NPI in their provider file, requesting that providers update their file with an active NPI. The missing NPI is not compliant per Federal Regulation §431.107(b)(5)(i) and Florida Administrative Code 59G 1.060, Section 2, which requires providers to enroll an active NPI with the State Medicaid Agency (SMA). Health care providers are further required to furnish the NPI to the SMA as part of their enrollment agreement.

An active NPI will be required to submit claims via Direct Data Entry on the Florida Medicaid Provider Secure Web Portal starting on March 27, 2026. Looking ahead, having an active NPI in the Florida Medicaid Provider file will also be necessary for the new provider enrollment system the Agency will be launching as part of the AHCA Enterprise modernization project. A missing or outdated NPI will prevent an existing account from merging with a new account, which will mean delays in enrollment, renewals, and even restricted account access.

Providers can update their NPI by visiting http://home.flmmis.com and logging into the Florida Medicaid Secure Web Portal using their account credentials. Refer to the NPI Self Service QRG.pdf
